What she was doing herself
Bookings happened by text, one thread at a time. Product orders ran through her from purchase to fulfillment. Her old site didn't bring anyone in, and the pieces that ran the business, payments, booking, inventory, and customer follow-up, were each handled separately and by hand.
She wasn't short on customers. Every transaction the business made had to pass through her personally, which meant nothing moved while she was with a client.
What I built
- A storefront and booking site she controls, replacing the fragile old site and the scattered manual tools
- Online booking with real-time availability synced to her calendar, so appointments stop living in text threads
- Inventory that tracks itself, with low-stock alerts and a back-in-stock notification system for retail
- Automated client emails: confirmations, reminders, and follow-ups that send without her
- An owner dashboard with client records and order history, so she can see the business at a glance
- A searchable directory of her existing clients, organized in one place for the first time
What changed
She stopped being the only way to book an appointment or buy a product. Booking, reminders, and follow-up now run whether or not she is free, and her clients and inventory live in one system instead of in her head and a handful of apps.
Along the way, mapping her checkout surfaced two live problems she didn't know she had: a tax miscalculation that was overcharging customers, and a payment workflow that was silently dropping orders. Both were fixed as part of the build.
Live in two weeks from nothing. Still in use and still growing, with new pieces added as the business needs them.
